KARACHI (TheSportsNext) August 9 ,2012: Former
chairman Pakistan Cricket Board, Ijaz Butt, once again tried his bit to
highlight the financial issues relating to the upcoming Pakistan-India cricket
series scheduled for December saying that the PCB must stand strong on demand
for a return series.
Ijaz Butt told PTI Thursday that the PCB will have its
finances hit hard if the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) refuses
to send its team for a reciprocal series in Pakistan or at any neutral venue.
Ijaz Butt said, "We haven`t played a bilateral home
series with India since 2006 and to compound matters for us, international
tours have also not taken place in Pakistan since the 2009 incident. So, it is
very important for us to get something out of the series with India this year. When
we play a home series against India, we earn 40 to 45 million US dollars from
the broadcasting rights. Similarly, when India hosts us they earn around 100
million US dollars in media rights”.
