KARACHI, Pakistan (TheSportsNEXT) July 30, 2015: Pakistan
outclassed Sri Lanka by 29 runs in first Twenty20 International at Colombo on
Thursday to take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, and Ahmed Shehzad hit 46 runs each to take
Pakistan’s total to 175/5 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Sri Lankan batsmen failed to match Pakistan’s effort and were
eventually folded for 146/7 from their allotted overs.
Left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir was declared Man of the Match for his
impressive spell of swing bowling as he finished with figures of 3/29 runs.
Second and final T20I between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at the
same venue on Saturday.
This is 24 out of 26 times, Pakistan have successfully defended a total
over 150 runs in a Twenty20 International.
The victory also means that Pakistan will return home without having to
lose against Sri Lanka in any of the three formats.
