July 18, 2012: The top-seeded Egypt outclassed second-seeded Pakistan by
two matches to nil to lift 2012 World Junior Squash title in the Qatarian
capital city of Doha on Wednesday.
The Best-of-Three finals were reduced to two after
Pakistan’s Danish Atlas was sent home following the overage controversy.
In the first leg of the World Junior Squash final, Mazem
Hashmi of Egypt defeated Mujtaba Bukhari of Pakistan by 3-1. Mujtaba Bukhari
started the game on a winning note by winning the first game by 11-7 but lost
his concentration in the next three games as Mazem Hashmi gradually found his
touch and won the second game by 11-8 in a hard-fought encounter.
However, the Egyptian squash player got better with the
passage of time as he cemented his grip over the proceedings as he won the next
two games 11-5 and 11-6 to complete victory in only 42 minutes.
In the second leg of the World Junior Squash final, Marwan
El Shorbagy of Egypt outclassed Nasir Iqbal of Pakistan as he mauled the
opponent in straight games to ensure the Egypt were crowned the World Junior
Squash champions.
Marwan El Shorbagy won the first game by 11-9 and then put
his opponent Nasir Iqbal under more pressure by bettering his margin of victory
to 11-7 and 11-6.
