KARACHI, Pakistan
(TheSportsNext) September 18, 2012: Former Pakistani cricketers, both
banned and ousted, have taken the job of cricket experts or pundits at the
local television channels which are running special broadcasts on the occasion
of the ICC World Twenty20 2012 (ICCWT20).
Tainted cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Aamir, who were
banned by the International Cricket Council for their proven involvement in the
scourge of spot-fixing, are performing duties of cricket expert on the ARY News
and Express News, respectively.
Younus Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq, the ousted cricketers though
have signed up with more respectable broadcasters like state run PTV Sports and
international sports channel TenSports as cricket pundits as the aging
Pakistani cricketers may have already sorted out their options as they are
nearing international retirement.
Another former Pakistani captain Moin Khan is expressing his
expert opinion at the Dawn News as the ICC World Twenty20 starts Tuesday with
Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe locking horns in the inaugural match of the competition.
It’s quite a common practice for cricketers all across the
world that they do turn television commentators and experts after culminating
their international careers but Pakistani media’s irresponsibility was once
again highlighted by the fact that they hired those cricketers who are not a
good example for the emerging and young cricketers.
ARY News went to the extent of running promos saying the
tagline, “Stopped from playing, but not from speaking." This is ridiculous
behavior by the Pakistani media because the players who are serving hefty bans
following their involvement in illegal cricketing activities should not be made
national heroes like that because by doing this you’re making young kids to
think nothing is gonna change even if we get caught red-handed doing
corruption.

I beg to differ , i feel they have paid their dues and should have a chance to earn an Honest living,as they only know cricket they cant run BEARINGS bank. And as we all know PCB is so weak in deffending or promoting its wards,if strong enough like the Indians(where there were aligations against a star player and their board shut everyone up)Pcb could have helped the players in putting their POV better, which might have changed the rulings in UK.
I totally agree with you Mr. Manzer but the point behind writing this article is not to ridicule the retiring cricket stars but to show the frustration as a die-hard Pakistan cricket fan after getting to see people like Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir who befooled the nation by their dirty play back on TV presenting their views on cricket as experts. They shouldn't be allowed to be on Television because this way, you're not setting a good example to the young kids.
