PCB Women Wing issues Central Contracts to Women Players

LAHORE (TheSportsNext) August 7, 2012: Pakistan Cricket Board Women Wing announced Tuesday the Women Players Central Contract List for the 2012 Calendar Year.

The PCB Women Wing said in a statement issued here that a total of seventeen women players have been awarded contracts in 3 categories.

PCB welcomes Wasim Akram’s coaching offer

LAHORE (TheSportsNext) August 7, 2012: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Tuesday, welcomed an offer made by former Pakistani skipper and legendary left-arm fast bowler Wasim Akram to train young fast bowlers.

Media Manager at the PCB, Nadeem Sarwar, told a local channel, on Tuesday that the PCB welcomed the offer made by former paceman and deemed it a good omen for Pakistan cricket.

World's oldest living cricketer in hospital on his 101st birthday

MUMBAI (TheSportsNext) August 7, 2012: Netcare Rosebank Hospital in Johannesburg has the oldest living cricketer as their patient. Norman Gordon celebrated his 101st birthday on the hospital bed on Monday.

"Yes, we are aware about his birthday today but there can't be a cake-cutting. My father is "very very ill" and has been hospitalised since last one week here", the son, Brian said over telephone from South Africa yesterday. 

ICC U19 World Cup: England beat Pakistan by 5wkts in warm-up

BRISBANE (TheSportsNext) August 7, 2012: England U19 cricket team defeated Pakistan U19 cricket team by five wickets in their warm up match played at Brisbane on Tuesday.

Batting first, Pakistan scored daunting 281 runs for the loss of six wickets from their 50 overs, thanks mainly to a gritty century by Saad Ali (100 from 92 – 8 fours, 1 six) while Imam-ul-Haq (79 from 116- 4 fours) also exhibited good form with the bat. A late flurry of boundaries by Usman Qadir (31 not out from 18 – 3 sixes) and Salman Afridi (22 not out from 19 – 1 four) helped the team to a formidable total.

Life-banned Sudhindra won’t take BCCI to court

MUMBAI (TheSportsNext) August 5, 2012: Nearly one month after being life-banned over his involvement in the spot-fixing, the 28-year-old IPL player, T. P. Sudhindra has decided against taking the Indian cricket board to court.

Speaking exclusively over his mobile from Bhillai, where the Hindupur, (Andhra Pradesh)-born cricketer now resides, said, "No, I am not filing any legal case against the BCCI".
