London2012: Former Olympians fancy Pakistan chances vs Great Britain

KARACHI (TheSportsNext) August 2, 2012: Former Pakistani Olympians said Thursday that Pakistan has capable enough side to defeat Great Britain in the London2012 hockey tournament.

Talking to local media here, former captain and Olympian Shahbaz Ahmed Senior said that that national hockey team played exceptionally well against Argentina and never allowed them to dictate terms.

KARACHI (TheSportsNext) August 2, 2012: Pakistan’s former Olympian Samiullah Khan Niazi urged the national hockey team to cut down on their mistakes if they want to challenge the very best in the London 2012 hockey tournament.

Talking to local media after Pakistan defeated Argentina by two goals to nil, Samiullah, also known as Flying Horse, said that while it was good to see Pakistan scoring goals from short corners but at the same time they lacked field goals which are equally important to win big games.

London2012: 346th Intl goal of skipper gives Pakistan 2-0 victory over Argentina

KARACHI (TheSportsNext) August 1, 2012: The world record holder Pakistani skipper Sohail Abbas led his side from the front in a crucial encounter of the London2012 hockey tournament against Argentina as the Green Shirts won the match by 2-0 and kept their gold medal hopes alive.

This was very important match for both the teams but Pakistan displayed exceptionally well and won it in great fashion.

KARACHI (TheSportsNext) August 1, 2012: The former Pakistani star hockey player Muhammad Qamar Ibrahim has   advised Pakistan hockey team to play attacking brand of hockey in Wednesday's crucial match against Argentina.

Qamar Ibrahim, who was an important member of the Pakistan hockey team which won Bronze medal in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, told TheSportsNext exclusively that an early lead against Argentina will be very handy for Pakistan and they must play attacking game to take the early advantage.

London2012: China maintain lead on points table at Day 3 with 6 Golds

LONDON (TheSportsNext) July 29, 2012: Chinese athletes maintaining their supremacy in the world of sports as they are leading the points table with Six Gold Medals at the end of day 3 of London Olympics.
Chinese athletes won two more gold medals on Sunday July 29 to take their gold medals tally to six. Zi He and Minxia Wu won gold medal in Springboard Final with final score of 346.2 while Abigail Johnston and Kelci Bryant of USA were ended up as the runners-up with final score of 321.9.

London2012: 9 athletes suspended for doping

MONACO (TheSportsNext) July 25, 2012: The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Wednesday suspended nine track and field athletes from participation in the London 2012 for their positive dope tests.

Three out of these nine athletes were caught in retests of samples taken during the last year’s world championships in Daegu, South Korea.
