LAHORE
(TheSportsNext) July 19, 2012: The international squash activities would make
a glittering return to Pakistan as six countries have confirmed their
participation in the Asian Masters Squash Championship to be held in Pakistan
from September 3, 2012.
Karamatullah Chaudhary, the tournament director, told a
press conference that India, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Singapore, Nepal and Malaysia
have confirmed sending their teams to Pakistan for the Asian Masters Squash Championship.
Secretary PSA, Tariq Farooq Rana; DCO Lahore Noorul Amin
Mangal; and Vice President, PSA Sohail Khan were also present on the occasion.
Karamatullah Chaudhary further stated that the Pakistan
Squash Association has invited many other countries as well but so far six
teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament. A number of former
greats and legends of the game have also confirmed that they would be part of
the tournament.
He stated, “Hopefully some other countries will also confirm
their participation in due course of time. Senior players who have given up the
sport will once again be seen in action and it is going to be a thrilling event
of its kind”.
Karamatullah Chaudhary claimed that the successful
tournament would present a positive image of Pakistan which has been deprived
of international sports activities due to terrorist activities across the
country.
The tournament director revealed, “Senior players who have

thrilling event of its kind.
“Jahangir Khan, Jansher Khan and Qamar Zaman will also
feature in the event,” he stated.
The tournament is divided into nine age categories, i.e.
35-39, 40-44,45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and above 76.
Deputy Commissioner Officer Lahore, Noorul Amin Mangal, said
on the occasion that with this tournament the international squash would return
to Pakistan as a number of foreign countries are taking part in the event.
It is important to mention here that August 3, 2012 is the
last date of receiving entries.
