Great Britain beat Pakistan 4-1 in London2012 hockey

LONDON (TheSportsNext) August 3, 2012: Ashley Jackson scored twice as Great Britain saw Pakistan off with a 4-1 victory in Group B of the London 2012 hockey tournament here Friday.

Ashley Jackson scored his two goals from the short corner after James Tindall gave the hosts an early lead. The Great Britain were leading the Green Shirts by two goals to nil at halftime.



Pakistan did try their best to claw their way back into contention with skipper Sohail Abbas scoring his 347th international goal but he lacked support from his forwards before Jonty Clarke gave Great Britain a commanding 4-1 lead which stayed till the final whistle.

With this victory, the Great Britain have given their qualification chances a world of good while the loss has put Pakistan in a spot of bother in the race to semi-finals of the competition.

The Great Britain have seven points from three matches, second to Australia who also have seven points but a better goal average gives them the advantage on the table. Pakistan now have four points from three matches and are placed third in Group B which means they will have to win all their remaining matches to stay in the competition.
