COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (TheSportsNEXT) October 19, 2012: Financial problems are hitting the whole world but off-late these issues have stricken the cricket leagues hard as after the Bangladesh Premier League, now a franchise of Sri Lankan Premier League is struggling to pay five of its overseas players their fee for participation in the league.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Federation of International Cricketers’ Association (FICA) confirmed Thursday that Rilee Russouw, Dirk Nannes, Charl Langeveldt, Daniel Smith, and Cameron Borgas have financial obligatiosn towards the Basnahira Cricket Dundee franchise of the Sri Lanka Premier League.

The first edition of the SLPL was culminated on August 31, 2012 and since then these players have not received their full payment of their stint with the SLPL franchise.

Rilee Russouw didn’t receive any money at all, Charl Langeveldt got only 25 percent while Dirk Nannes, Cameron Borgas and Daniel Smith received 50 percent of their payment.

Former Australian off-spinner and now FICA CEO Tim May said that the players have been promised falsely by the Basnahira Cricket Dundee since August and his organization was considering taking this matter into court of law.

Tim May also alleged that the Sri Lanka Cricket never replied to any of the FICA emails over the past three weeks which is not giving positive vibes and if no practical step is taken within a week then the matter would be taken to the court.
