(TheSportsNEXT) September 23, 2012: A fighting knock by Jess Cameron and
impressive bowling by Ellyse Perry helped Australian women cricket team defeat
West Indies by 19 runs in their warm-up match played at Moors Sports Club
Ground in Colombo on Sunday ahead of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2012.
Batting first, Australia scored 110 for eight, thanks to
37-run innings by Jess Cameron.
West Indies women were bowled out for 91 from 17.1 overs and
fell 19 runs short of the target. Ellyse Perry took three wickets for 22 runs.
In another warm-up match ahead of the ICC Women’s World
Twenty20 2012 which starts from Wednesday, New Zealand women cricket team
defeated their Indian opponents by four wickets at Nondescripts Cricket Club
Ground in Colombo.
Batting first, Indian women were bowled out for 100 runs
from 19.4 overs but New Zealand women completed the target with 11 balls to
spare for the loss of six wickets.
Kiwi opener Suzie Bates scored 51 runs before getting
retired out.
