MUMBAI
(TheSportsNext) July 21, 2012: Rahul Sharma himself should take the final
call whether to quit the game, according to his Punjab coach, Vikram Rathore.

Speaking over telephone from Punjab on Saturday morning, he
said, "yes, he did say that he would leave the game if found positive.
This he had said because he was sure about the negative result of the sample.
And now, if the result is "really positive", he can only decide to
keep his promise. I am not sure whether it was the performance enhancement if
he had consumed", the team coach added.
"However, I am surprised about the news and could not
believe it. I have been knowing him since childhood. He is coming from a decent
family. He himself is a decent boy and we all are surprised", he further
added.
Rahul Sharma hails from a middle class family residing in
Jalandhar with his mother and father and with a sister and a brother. Rahul's
father Pradeep Sharma, is an assistant sub inspector in Punjab Police and his
mother Indu sharma is a homemaker. Rahul is a graduate in Commerce from Delhi
University and had been auctioned in the IPL (Pune Warriors team) for high
prices.
In Colombo, Rahul Sharma became nervous when first heard the
news on the eve of the match. "Obviously, he was disappointed", the
team manager, Sanjay Patel said
exclusively from his hotel room. "We have advised him to be postive
and also told him to concentrate on the game. As of now, no decision has been
taken to send him back", he further added.
ICC's all full members have zero level tolerance for drugs.
Pakistani pacer, Mohammad Asif was banned for the same offence in 2009. On 11
February 2009, Asif was confirmed by the IPL as tested positive for steroids
and subsequently he was imposed a one year ban on him and he was also released
of his contract by the Delhi DareDevils.
