Pakistan U19 beat Australia U19 2-1 in Youth ODI series

GOLD COAST, Australia (TheSportsNext) August 3, 2012: Australia U19 cricket team defeated Pakistan U19 by eight wickets in the final Youth One Day International but the Pakistani colts still won the three-match series by 2-1.

 

Batting first, Pakistan U19 could manage only 179 all out from 47.5 overs with Imam-ul-Haq top-scoring with 77 runs from 118 with the help of six boundaries. Umar Waheed (52 from 102 – 1 four, 6 sixes) also played well but middle and lower middle-order batting collapsed after skipper Babar Azam and Faraz Ali went for duck.

Ashton Turner took three wickets for 38 runs while Harry Conway and Joel Paris captured two wickets apiece for 25 and 40 runs, respectively.

Chasing 180 runs for victory, Australia U19 reached the target from 48.2 overs for the loss of only two wickets. Cameron Bancroft (76 from 133 - 3 fours) and Kurtis Patterson (52 not out from 81 – 2 fours, 1 six) played central role in the successful run-chase.

Cameron Bancroft was declared Man of the Match as well as Man of the Series for his brilliant performances.
