KARACHI (TheSportsNext) August 2, 2012: Pakistan’s
former Olympian Samiullah Khan Niazi urged the national hockey team to cut down
on their mistakes if they want to challenge the very best in the London 2012
hockey tournament.
Talking to local media after Pakistan defeated Argentina by
two goals to nil, Samiullah, also known as Flying Horse, said that while it was
good to see Pakistan scoring goals from short corners but at the same time they
lacked field goals which are equally important to win big games.
Samiullah, who represented Pakistan at Montreal 1976 and
helped the side to win bronze medal, was critical of the performance of the
national hockey team saying, “Although Pakistani team got an important victory
but still they made some blunders in the field which have to rectified in
coming matches”.
“Pakistan need at least three victories under their belt to
qualify into the semi-final stage and therefore they should be relaxed after
only triumph”, he stated.
