SANTIAGO, Chile (TheSportsNext) July 4, 2015: Alexis Sanchez hit the historic and elusive goal against Argentina to take Chile to their first-ever Copa America title at Santiago, Chile on Saturday evening.

The highly-contested Copa America final went right to the wire as both teams failed to break the shackles during 120 minutes of intense soccer.

Eventually, the title had to be decided on a penalty shootout where only Argentinean skipper Lionel Messi could find the net for his team.

On the other hand, Chile got goals from Matias Fernandez, Charles Aranguiz, Arturo Vidal, and Alexis Sanchez.

Chile, who won the match by 4-1 on penalties, had never won a Copa America title before.
