KARACHI (TheSportsNext) July 24, 2012: Former
Pakistani wicketkeeper and whistleblower against match fixing, Rashid Latif has
advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to focus on the financial side of the
upcoming bilateral series between Pakistan and India.
Pakistan and India will take on each other in limited overs
internationals in December this year and former Test captain is of the belief
that the PCB should also overcome the budgetary shortcomings through this
series.
Rashid Latif told local media on Monday, “Improving
bilateral cricket ties is fine but the PCB is also duty-bound to ensure it does
not get a rough deal from the BCCI”.
Pakistan and India were at odds after the 2008 Mumbai
terrorist attacks and Indian government stopped its cricket team from touring
Pakistan but the BCCI showed its willingness to revive cricketing ties earlier
this year which translated into a short series consisting of three One Day
Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals.
As per the Indian media reports, the Board for Cricket
Control in India is likely to fetch up to 50-60 million US dollars from the
limited overs cricket between the archrivals.

The PCB has already made it clear that it has least interest
in the revenue sharing, former captain Rashid Latif has insisted that the PCB
should focus on financial aspect of the series.
Rashid Latif stated, “The most important thing is India has
not compensated us for the cancelled tour in 2009 and they also didn't play us
as per the FTP this year. India has not toured Pakistan since early 2006 and
even under the ICC future tours program they should allow Pakistan to host a
series if not in Pakistan then at a neutral venue”.
