ICCWT20: Afghanistan win toss, make India bat first

By Fathima Zanaida

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (TheSportsNEXT) September 19, 2012: Afghanistan have won the toss and decided to bowl first at the R Premadasa Stadium in their first match of the ICC World Twenty20 (ICCWT20) against India on Wednesday.

Bearing in mind the strong batting line-up of Team India, Afghanistan skipper Nawroz Mangal showed no hesitation in inviting them to bat first as he told the toss interviewer Ramiz Raja that he would like to field first since his team has a strong batting line-up.

Since the pitch is the same which was used for Australia-Ireland match, some bounce and pace is expected to be on offer for the faster bowlers and Indian skipper MS Dhoni said, “I think the pitch will remain the same, it might get a bit slower as the match progresses.

India have decided against picking Harbhajan Singh for the match and gone for Lakshmipathi Balaji over Ashok Dinda.
