August 26, 2012: Arsenal FC continued to face tough luck at Barclays
English Premier League 2012-13 on Sunday when Stoke City held them for a
goal-less draw at the Britannia Stadium despite of dominating the match.
This is the second consecutive goalless draw for Arsene
Wengers’ Gunners this season and they are languishing at 13th place
in the Premier League points table.
Arsenal FC had to install Vito Mannone in goal after first-choice
Wojcech Szczesny were ruled out of the match with a rib injury but it was their
forwarders who remained overwhelming all across the match but execution was not
there as despite of winning 11 corners and a number of free-kicks they failed
to break the shackles.
On the other hand, Stoke City everything right in their
defence as Arsenal forwards failed to break into their defence line to score a
goal and hence managed an important point against one of the top EPL
franchises.
Stoke City came close to secure full points from the match
when Jonathan Walters got a super chance to give his side that elusive goal but
he failed to secure his side a narrow home victory and wasted the chance.
