KARACHI
(TheSportsNext) August 5, 2012: World number one Roger
Federer of Switzerland and Andy Murray of Great Britain will lock horns in the
final of London2012 Tennis tournament in a rematch of Wimbledon2012 final at
Wimbledon on Sunday.
First Semi Final
Roger Federer
of Switzerland showed fantastic display of tennis once again to beat world
number 9 Martin Del potro in nail biting match by 6-3, 7-6 and 19-17 in Olympics Semifinal.
Swiss player who beat Andy
Murray in Wimbledon last month is seeking to
win first London 2012 Olympics gold medal, and will be the first man to have all “four
grand slam titles” and Olympics “singles” and “Doubles” “Gold medalist”.
The match
lasted four hours and 26 minutes, surpassing Rafael Nadal's victory over Novak
Djokovic at the Madrid Masters in 2009 as the longest three-set men's singles
match in the Open era.
Del Potro's
brutal shotmaking kept Federer deep in the first set, and he grabbed it 6-3 and
he was playing thunderous forehands but on other side 17 grand slam winner was
not ready to give up and showing his temperament to come back in the match and
won 2nd set on tie Break.
Federer saved
two break points at the start of the decider and
the Argentinean saving a break point at 7-7 , But
he was finding it harder to withstand the pressure and he was finally broken at
9-9 and leave Federer serving for the
match.but surprisingly Federer squandered this opportunity.
But finally in the 35th game federer broke to lead 18-17 and after
missing simple volley in the first match point his opponent netted a backhand.
Federer lifted his arms in jubilation, then reached
wearily on the net then shared a warm embrace with Argentine’s big man.
"I felt for him in a big way," Federer said,
"because I've been there as well."
"I was
very tense at certain times," Federer said. "I was seeing myself as a
loser many times during the match."
"I
definitely got a sense that it was something special," Federer said.
Second Semi Final

demonstrated brilliant display in second semi final against world number two Novak Djokovic .

Both
players were superb as they were executing fast and flat ground strokes,
pulling each other all around the court, but it was Murray who grabbed the
first set.
Serbian
squandered break points in first two service games of Murray
in the second set as the second seed pile on the pressure, but the break did
not come and in the nith game once again murray
saved break point.
World number two had been maintain his serve in the 2nd set but suddenly he found himself at 0-30 and, when Murray played nice return and had three match points then played decisive return to wrapped up the match as Centre Court rose to its feet for Andy Murray.
Murray said: "I just wanted to try and win a medal, for the team, for the country and lastly for myself. I'm so happy, I would love to win the gold medal.
