Pakistan win toss, bat first in 1st ODI vs Australia

By Osama Tariq

SHARJAH (TheSportsNext) August 28, 2012: Pakistan have won the toss and decided to bat first in the first One Day International match against Australia at Sharjah International Cricket Stadium, Pakistan’s happy hunting ground over the years.

Pakistan captain Misbahul Haq has opted for not playing either Shoaib Malik or Junaid Khan but inclusion of Nasir Jamshed raises eyebrows as in presence of Kamran Akmal in the team, there was no real need of including an extra opening batsman in the playing eleven.

Pakistan team consists of Mohammad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal (wicketkeeper), Nasir Jamshed, Azhar Ali, Umar Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq (captain), Asad Shafiq, Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanvir, Saeed Ajmal, and Aizaz Cheema.

Australia have decided to go with all-pace bowling attack leaving behind Xavier Doherty and selected fast bowlers like James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson, and Dan Christian.

Australian playing eleven includes David Warner, Mathew Wade, Michael Clarke (captain), Mike Hussey, David Hussey, George Bailey, Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, and James Pattinson.
