LAHORE (TheSportsNext) August 27, 2012: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) sports committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of its president Syed Aqil Shah here on Sunday.

As many as 13 units of the POA attended the meeting in which important decisions about National Games were taken. Syed Aqil Shah disclosed that National Games would be held from October 16 to 22 in the city under the supervision of Punjab Olympic Association.

He said that badminton, basketball and cycling federations could not take part in the Games until their cases were not resolved by the respective courts.

In all, there will be 28 disciplines in the Games while women will participate in 17 disciplines.

Talking to media on the occasion, Aqil denied that he had talked about any investigation of hockey team and federation. “I have not said something about hockey team and federation’s investigation rather I have suggested that like hockey, there would be allocation of huge funds for other sports so that they may also do well and bring laurels for the country.”

He said that in the current scenario, it was difficult to say that Pakistanis could win any gold in the upcoming Olympics rather Pakistan could not win gold till Olympics 2020. “On August 28, I will hold press conference in Peshawar and recommend some important things, if those will be carried out then Pakistan can win medals in the upcoming Olympics,” he concluded.
