Australia (TheSportsNext) July 31, 2012: Superb bowling effort helped the Pakistan U19 to clinch the
three-match series against Australia as they won the second Youth One-Day
International by seven wickets with 92 balls to spare at Kerrydale Oval on
Tuesday.
Batting first, Australia U19 were restricted to only 139
runs all out from 43.1 overs with Cameron Bancroft (47 from 111 – 2 fours) and
Travis Head (43 from 41 – 3 fours, 2 sixes) being the top scorers.
Zia-ul-Haq captured three wickets for 20 runs, while
Mohammad Nawaz grabbed two wickets for 22 runs to lead Pakistan’s bowling
effort.
Pakistan U19 completed the target in 34.4 overs for the loss
of only three wickets. Dashing opener Sami Aslam (26 from 44 – 4 fours)
regained his lost touch, while skipper Babar Azam (20 from 33 – 2 fours) and
Umar Waheed (21 from 36 – 2 fours) also played well. However, it was 52 runs
unbeaten partnership between Imam-ul-Haq (30 not out from 62 – 1 four) and Saad
Ali (36 not out from 33 – 6 fours) that eased Pakistan U19 into series victory.
Zia-ul-Haq was declared Man of the Match for his superb
bowling effort.
