Jacques Kallis unlikely to surpass Sachin Test tons

By Bipin Dani

MUMBAI (TheSportsNext) July 26, 2012: South African all-rounder, Jacques Kallis' elevation up the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Tests has been well admired by his school head-master, Keith Richardson.

Speaking exclusively from Cape Town, the Wynberg Boys' High School head-master said, "Jacques Kallis is without doubt the most successful cricketer that this country has produced – not only in runs and centuries, but if you add in his wickets and catches, then he has a phenomenal record. His work rate is astounding".

Apart from Kallis, the school has produced a few other cricketers, including Richard Levi and Paddy Upton, the noted Physical Trainer of the South African cricket team.

"One wonders what he would have achieved in batting records, if he did not also shoulder the burden of also being a strike bowler (well certainly in his younger playing days). I note that he will not be playing in the ODIs against England – but will be rested in order to prolong his Test career", he added.

"If (when...) Tendulkar’s record gets broken, I doubt it will be by an all-rounder. The mere fact that you are intimating that it could be by an all-rounder like Kallis shows the real ability of the man".

"Personally I feel that his tally of 43 hundreds is too far behind the 51 of Tendulkar".

"This school is proud of him. He is loyal to the school and backs it financially and with his ongoing support. A few weeks ago he turned up with his friend Mark Boucher to watch the school play a rugby match", the head-master signed off.
