COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (TheSportsNEXT) October 6, 2012: International cricket activities are likely to return to Pakistan soon as Sri Lanka team may visit Pakistan for a short series.
As per the Sri Lankan media reports, Sri Lankan President Percy Mahendra "Mahinda" Rajapaksa has given the country’s cricket board his green-signal for the cricket team’s tour to Pakistan.
Sri Lanka was the last team that toured Pakistan in 2009 when 12 terrorists of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi attacked them in Lahore on March 3, 2009 while they were travelling from their hotel to Gaddafi Stadium.
The incident took place on third day of the second Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Lahore which resulted in injuries to six Sri Lankan players while six Pakistani policemen and two civilians were killed.
Following the terrorists attack, international cricket teams as well as other sporting units refused to tour Pakistan, which has become the front-runner of the US war on terrorism.
