PCB pays cricketers` outstanding dues

By Ubaid Awan

KARACHI (TheSportsNext), July 22, 2012: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) paid the long-standing dues of national cricketers till the start of series against Sri Lanka assuring them of no future delay in match fees and bonuses, sources told TheSportsNext.com on Saturday.

Sources told this scribe that Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf ordered the concerned authorities to pay all the outstanding dues of the cricketers after getting consistence complaints by some of the senior players.

These senior cricketers had voiced their concerns with the PCB chief when the cricket board had asked them to ink the central contract which assured them a 25 percent increment in their monthly retainers and 10 percent surge in their match fees.

Some of the senior cricketers had reportedly delayed signing the central contract which tensed the relationships between the PCB chief and these cricketers for some time but eventually Mr. Zaka Ashraf has come up with the right decision to halt the undue delay in the cricketers’ deserving pay.

The sources said, “It was only after Mr. Zaka Ashraf had a discussion with the captain and some other senior players who were in Sri Lanka and told them that if they delayed further they would lose many benefits and perks from the board that they signed up”.
