KARACHI (TheSportsNext) July 18, 2012: Badiuz Zaman of News One clinched the 2nd Tissot SSB Inter-Media Bowling Tourney held at the Royal Rodale in Karachi on Tuesday.
Around 50 journalists from as many as 15 print and electronic media organisations took part in the event but it was Badiuz Zaman who piped all top-scoring with 140 points to receive a cash prize of Rs5000.
Fawad Hussain of The Express Tribune came second with 100 points to his name which included three strikes while ARY One’s Mohsin Raza came third with 100 points. However, he lost to Fawad Hussain on the basis of first round score in the final round comprising top eight bowlers progressing from the first round.
Earlier, Badiuz Zaman also led the open round finishing it on top with a pin of 123 including four strikes. Fawad Hussain ended second in the opening game, falling five pin short at 118 points. Daily Khabrain’s Umar Shaheen was third on the list with a score of 111.
Samaa TV’s Ubaid Awan and Waqt TV’s Shoaib Ahmed were among the other bowlers to cross 100 in the first round.
The Tournament was honored with gracious presence of Mr. Muhstaq Ahmed Dirctor Sindh Sports Board as Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, Minister of Sports, could not join due to ill health. The event was formally inaugurated by him by Rolling the Bowling Ball.
Since the inception, STBA has shown a significant performance and progression in the development of Tenpin Bowling in the region. Tenpin Bowling is an International Sports which has prospective future in our country; “Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association has played a vital role in promoting the sport in well befitting manner. Our all-out efforts are with them to facilitate their program and events. The STBA team and officials have really given their level best to the sport and they deserve an appreciation." said, Shoaib Ahmed Saddiqui, Secretary Youth Affairs.
Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA) organized 2nd TISSOT SSB Inter-Media Bowling Tournament 2012 The Opening Ceremony held on 17th July 2012 at Royal Rodale Club, Karachi. Over 50 players and 15 Sports Journalist (Print & Electronic) participated in the media tournament. The tournament is continuation of 3rd SSB Ranking Bowling Tournament 2012 initiated by Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA) and under auspices of Sindh Sport Board and Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation
Tournament was played under Singles Master, Single Amateur, Doubles and Inter Media categories.
“The role of Print & Electronic Media in the promotion of Sports is an authentic way of communication which not only creates the awareness and exposure of sports on mass medium but it also marks the history in Visual and Literature. The right branding of sports in Pakistan will directly contribute towards the winning status of nation similar” Tissot SSB Inter-Media Bowling Tournament 2012 brings up the significant results educate the media personnel with technicalities of bowling to deliver the right information to the audience", said Romis Ali, General Secretary, STBA.
The Inter-Media Tournament is marked the most thrilling session in which 15 Print & Electronic Media channels will learn the technicalities of the Bowling sports with professional guide lines by STBA.
The Chief Guest of Honour presented Event Souvenirs to Mr Aleem Agha, Senior Vice President and Mr. Muhammad Amin Nasir, Vice President STBA to compliment appreciation for their hearted efforts to produce this historical event.
