Pakistan in no danger to miss out on London 2012: POA Secretary

LAHORE (TheSportsNext) July 23, 2012: With London 2012 Games are just a couple of days away, Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Secretary General Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood swept away clouds of uncertainty on Pakistan’s participation in the Olympics saying there was no danger to Pakistan’s inclusion in the Games.

POA President Lt. Gen. (Retd) Arif Hasan, who is currently in London, called on International Olympic Committee officials and confirmed that there was no danger to Pakistan’s contingent as far as the London 2012 participation was concerned, he told local media.

Talking about the ongoing tussle between POA and other sports federations in the country, Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood said that the efforts are afoot to resolve all the outstanding issues so that the IOC finds no reason to exclude Pakistan from the London 2012.

Pakistan’s hockey team as well as its six officials and security officer are already in London while Khurram Sultan will be there by tomorrow and chef de mission Aqil Shah, Israr Ahmad, Zoraiz lashari, Fatima Lakhani, Javed Lodhi of swimming, shooting officials from Lahore, Dr Waqar Ahmad, Liaquat Ali, athlete Rabia Ishaq from Islamabad will leave for London on July 25.
